  • Mon 6 March 10-12.30 free workshop at Barking Enterprise Centre on stress reduction when running a business info here
  • Tues 7 March 6.30-8.30 Entrepreneurs club at Redbridge Institute. A look at personal image for business owners with start-up Kathleen Hodis of Fabulistic. First members only and first timers session. Excited! Info here
  • Saturday 11th 10-2, Ilford Green Pop Up market info here
  • Saturday 11 9.45-1.30 Womens business event run by Redbridge business consultancy Brandstad Ltd info here

  • On Tuesday it's the start-your-business introductory workshop at Enterprise Desk 10-1 run by the London Small Business Centre. Info here
  • On Thursday we have a fabulous call-out for Redbridge creatives! Our speaker is fashion designer Isatu Harrison and this is also a meet-up for creative start-ups, businesses and amateurs. 5.30 at Enterprise Desk. Info here.
  • Redbridge Timebank event on Saturday - cutting edge! Its the Timebank live trading floor Saturday 16th July from 1-3pm in Ilford library. A rich, fun, unexpected Saturday afternoon. Info here
Business help for community groups this week:
  • On Tuesday there's a crowdfunding seminar at Redbridge CVS - an important tool for raising funds with local community involvement. info here.
  • Our fourth and final Enterprising Redbridge seminar on Tuesday 5.30-8pm at Welcome Centre. 'Love Your Numbers!' Info here.

There's a business adviser at Ilford Library (open to all Redbridge of course) every Wednesday. Must be booked. Info here.

There will be an enterprise club on Tuesday but I have not found a speaker! Keep the date and I will update you. Info on enterprise club here. Get in touch if you have a suggestion.

A Redbridge social enterprise Inspired By Sports are having a launch of a new arm a clothing range - read the Director Jeffrey Nkrumah's blog here .

A Redbridge arts/events start-up Kim Judge has opened a fantastic art exhibition in the Cauliflower pub. She plans to find spaces all around the borough for local artists. Info here.

We tried out a new format at enterprise club last week and it went well! For info click here

My campaign for independent retailer month is off to a bit of a slow start but see the first photo and please buy something from a local shop this weekend and take a selfie and put on our facebook page! For every £1 spent locally 50p-70p continues to ciruclate locally but only 5p if you use a chain. Info click here

Sophia Hub update

'Vic Norman led a powerful session at the enterprise club on Tuesday and vastly increasing social media skills is the focus of January and the whole year! Read here about the enterprise club session and follow up help.

We are getting help to run a Redbridge portal for start-ups and there is a social media working session on Tuesday 20th January at the enterprise club, so put the date in your diaries. (see above link)

Blogging and linking to each other's websites is the best way to promote your business. Read Manzoor Ahmed's guest blog here and please send me yours.

Plans for the Timebank community skills swap are going well (Taira Khan is leading a creative writing session and Vic Norman a twitter training) - please publcise and let us know your ideas. Flyer here.

The East London Small Business Centre is coming to Sophia Hubs for Tuesday's lunch time enterprise club (13th January at 12.30) for a practical session and info on loads of resources. Click here to see what Claudia will be covering.

Sophia Hub update

'Tomorrow at the Tuesday lunchtime enterprise club we have local business man Vic Norman of London Pub Tours and others, speaking on managing your business online. Vic is a business lecturer at Redbridge Institute. Come at 12.30 for prompt start at 12.45. More info here.

Our first Timebank community skills swap at the start-up cafe Flirt was a great success. The next one is Saturday morning 24 January 2015. This is a great opportunity to trade on the sharing economy by either giving or taking help from community members. A community event that can help your start-up. More info here.
