The Year of the Bible Poetry Competition 2011

A new poetry competition for the Barking Episcopal Area which is for all ages, adults and children. Why not take time out, flex those writing fingers and enter!
The Bishop of Barking, the Rt Revd David Hawkins has chosen the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible as the underlying theme for the competition.
The Bible has been a great source of inspiration for poets over the centuries and there will be plenty to stimulate creativity: the history, the literary heritage and legacy and of course the wealth of stories and themes.
Bishop David says: I want this to be an opportunity for creativity involving people of a wide range of ages and backgrounds. The criterion for each entry must be that it gets right to the heart of some biblical story or message.
So think of a story that touches you or perhaps a theme that is close to your heart..... justice, freedom, family, love...... and get writing!
The closing date is October 21st .

One entry per person, no longer than 30 lines
A prize will be awarded in each age category
Each entry should state the writer’s name, address and age if under 16
Entries please to the Barking Area Office, Barking Lodge, Verulam Avenue, Walthamstow E17 8ES or emailed to: b.barking@chelmsford.anglican.org  For further information please contact Rev Kathryn Robinson 02085203771 kthrynrbnsn@aol.com.
