This week a new organisation called TASK was launched to work for the development of Seven Kings. TASK is a group that I support and the following information explains how others can also join:
The recent news that Redbridge Council’s Cabinet have decided to sell off the High Road lorry park for yet more high density housing, with no specific community facilities, against the advice of its own planning brief, amounts to a further slap in the face for Seven Kings. It adds to our existing concerns about the closure of the A and E facility at King George Hospital, possible sale of local allotments and acute pressures on all our local services.
Whilst other parts of the borough benefit from lavish attention, Seven Kings - officially one of the most disadvantaged parts of Redbridge - continues to be ignored, and continues to decline, when locals know it could so easily be most of its most vibrant and thriving communities.
As residents and local traders, we have had enough of being treated like third class citizens and, as we start this new year, resolve to fight back against this constant assault on our quality of life. With this in mind, we are forming an entirely independent, non party political, cross faith new campaign group called TASK - Take Action for Seven Kings - which is open to all local residents and business people, and is designed
- to promote the area;
- advance its social and economic wellbeing;
- attract much needed inward investment;
- present a strong and unified case in dealings with the borough and other public bodies.
Our immediate focus will be on challenging the Cabinet on its disgraceful behind closed doors lorry park decision, and ensuring that the terms of the planning brief are met. We are determined to secure desperately needed new community services and an outstanding new building that will send out a strong sign that the area is on the up and act as a beacon for further regeneration.
- Now is the time for the silent majority in Seven Kings to signal its had enough
- Now is the time to sign up to support us improve our neighbourhood
- Now is the time to take Redbridge Council to TASK
If you share our aims, want a better tomorrow for Seven Kings and believe we can achieve most by working together to produce real results, please sign up as a supporter by emailing the following information to Chris Connelley at chrisconnelley@ntlworld.com:
