Scribblers: The man on the bench

On Monday I joined local writing group Scribblers for their session at the St Andrew's Centre. In addition to listening to the pieces group members had written during the week, we also did a 10 minute writing exercise for which we were given a title and asked to come up with poetry or prose response within 10 minutes.

This is the piece I managed working with the title 'The man on the bench':

The man on the bench
has a metal head and shoulders
emerging from granite.
The man on the bench
has curved metal strips
overlapping to form his head.
The man on the bench
has a wicked grin
and satirical smile.
I sit on the bench
that his body forms
and converse with Oscar Wilde.
