The Way Ahead: Struggles during war and peace

The Way Ahead exhibits artwork produced by veterans and serving men and women in order to raise awareness about the struggles they face during war and peace as well as revealing the value of the arts as a therapeutic and healing form of practice.

The Way Ahead includes artwork produced in art and occupational therapy as well as pieces created for recreational purposes. The work includes both raw and finished pieces of work which reveal a commitment to the healing power of art. The exhibition showcases a range of media, including painting, poetry, photography, and sculpture. It presents over 30 pieces from organisations and individual artists linked by the experience of war.

The exhibition is curated by The Arts Project for the London Veteran’s Services, Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. It brings together for the first time a range of organisations, including Combat Stress, Stoll and The Army Arts Society charities. All are striving to improve the physical, mental and spiritual lives of veterans and serving men and women from the military, navy and air force.

It runs until Thursday 22 October, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, at St Pancras Hospital, 4 St Pancras Way, London NW1 0PE.
