Lent: Music that inspires Christian faith

I've been invited to contribute to the Lent Course at Chelmsford Cathedral this year. On Monday evenings in Lent five different speakers will be talking about different pieces of music that inspire them in their Christian faith. The five meetings all begin at 7.30pm in the North Transept of the Cathedral, and will last around 90 minutes, ending with Compline. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book in advance.

Dates and details of the speakers and their pieces of music are as follows:

• 10 March: James Davy, Organist & Master of the Choristers at Chelmsford Cathedral - Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610, Magnificat.
• 17 March: The Ven Annette Cooper, Archdeacon of Colchester - Bernadette Farrell’s setting of Psalm 139, O God, you search me and you know me.
• 24 March: The Revd Kate Moore, Associate Priest at Chelmsford Cathedral - Pergolesi, Stabat Mater.
• 31 March: The Revd Jonathan Evens, Vicar of St John’s Seven Kings & Secretary of commission4mission - Summertime in England by Van Morrison, from the album Common One.
• 7 April: The Very Revd Nicholas Henshall, Dean of Chelmsford - Mahler’s Ninth Symphony, the fourth movement.
