Inspire programme arts and crafts workshops with live music

Our Inspire programme at St Andrew's Wickford which is being organised by Sugar Storm Studio, is bringing arts and music to Wickford. Events are free and funded by Wickford Town Council. Look out for the next event in this series, a day of art and craft activities in October.

Over this weekend we have enjoyed a relaxing evening of painting with live music and socialising in a beginners painting workshop delivered under the expert guidance of Charlie Stafford from Stafford Fine Art. We painted to upbeat acoustic covers from Genevieve Johnson.The workshop was suitable for all abilities. Charlie shared tips and tricks to help us create our own abstract acrylic masterpiece, using pallette knives to create texture. All materials were provided.

Today's workshop was on the craft of needle punching, set to live music from Holly Hannigan, an Essex-based singer-songwriter. In this hands-on workshop, we learnt how to use a punch needle tool to create colourful, textured artwork using yarn and fabric. This relaxing craft is easy to learn and surprisingly addictive. Led by artist, counsellor and Creative Hub founder Charlotte Robinson, the session proved to be fun, welcoming and accessible to all with creativity, conversation and plenty of colourful yarn.
