Favourite writers on faith and belief

Here is a quick list of some of the writers on issues of faith and belief that I find most challenging with links to websites that provide comprehensive information about their thinking:

• Walter Brueggemann - Old Testament scholar and United Church of Christ minister;
• René Girard - Historian, literary critic, and philosopher of social science, Girard has written particularly on the theme of mimetic desire;
• Colin Gunton - A rigorously Trinitarian theologian;
• Gabriel Josipovici - Professor in the Graduate School of Humanities at the university of Sussex and author of numerous works of fiction and non-fiction including The Book of God: A Response to the Bible (Yale);
• Nicholas Mosley - British novelist of ideas and author of the lay essay in theology Experience and Religion (Dalkey);
• Paul Ricoeur - Major twentieth century Christian philosopher; and
• N.T. Wright - New Testament scholar and Bishop of Durham.
